Rita in Palma offers products which appeal to customers in many ways, adopting the glamour of past times, and replying to the growing yearning for sustainability and more human values in todays fast and accelerated world of consumption. While older generations are touched in a very sentimental way by the old handicraft, the daughters are fascinated by their mother's and grandmother's expertise and hence find a new access to this kind of needlework.
Rita in Palma is a social integration project that strictly turns against social exclusion within our society. The main focus comprises traditional knitting and crochet work, establishing a bond with citizens of Turkish origin, benefitting from their skills and in turn offering them employment.
The collection focuses on short distances with the production taking place locally in Berlin enabling direct communication with the workers and monitoring progress to prevent any waste through misunderstandings. This also allows an ongoing cooperation between designers and workers throughout the production of the collection.
