Describing herself as ‘a creative beatnik with a magpies eye for the sparkling and the sumptuous’, owner Rebecca designs and makes each accessory by hand.
After graduating with a first class honours degree in Textiles & Fashion Design Management from the Scottish College of Textiles, Rebecca considered a glitzy career in London, but couldn’t tear herself away from Glasgow! Launching her website ‘Cotton Candy Corsage’ in 2006, she has found her niche in the creation of ‘wearable art’, and has since relaunched afresh in 2010 trading under her own name.
Inspirations abound, but the multitude of fabrics, trims, textures and colours ensure a constant stream of ideas, combinations and shapes which result in totally unique pieces every time. The possibilities are endless.
Upcycling is a particular passion, and the use of vintage and second hand men’s ties to make jewelled and beaded brooches using buttons from ‘nana’s button box’ is a collection favourite. Rebecca also works with Scottish mills such as Lochcarron of Scotland and Calzeat, designing sumptuous tartan bows and tartan corsages with heraldic and celtic button trims.
