Things have been really busy at {Think} Boutique recently! Following the success of our last Pop Up Shop in May we have decided to once again take our 'online' collections 'offline' with our latest Pop up launching on the 3rd November, just in time for the Autumn Winter season and Christmas!  It's a great way for us to spread the {Think} message as well as meet our lovely customers and get a little bit festive in the lead up to Christmas! This time we have teamed up with our friends and experts in hair and beauty at West End Hair on Great Western Road in Glasgow, setting up shop at the front of their salon, with the {Think} team getting to work last week on transforming the  front space from a former salon reception into an ethical fashion haven! 

It was a lot of hard work but the space as well as the collection are both looking amazing, with our newly installed window displays brightening up the shop front as well as the now dark and cold street outside!

We rewarded oursleves for all our hard work on opening night, enjoying some festive mulled wine with our loyal {Think} customers and showing off our lastest collection full of winter warmers and outfits that would look great at any Christmas party as well as some gorgeous accessories which will make the perfect gifts this Christmas, all of course with an ethical fashion twist!

Things have been a bit quiet here on the {Think} blog for a while as we have been busy welcoming our newest member of the {Think} Boutique team! Seen here doing his bit for {Think} Boutique promotion, Ellis James arrived safe and well on 19th July 2011!



So after this brief baby hiatus I'm so excited to get back to all things {Think}, with Ellis as my new assistant of course!

Its shaping up to be another amazing season ahead with all the gorgeous new pieces we have lined up for Autumn/Winter and some interesting projects in the pipe line. So, as they say, watch this space!

We at Think Boutique felt it wasn’t fair that those of you who can’t make it along to the pop up shop miss out so we created a virtual tour just for you!

We took advantage of the sun and filmed a video capturing our fantastic pop up shop, along with some  our key looks from the Spring Summer collection on location in our home town of Glasgow.

For our second spring summer shoot we were lucky enough to be granted access to the currently derelict Govanhill Baths. First opened in 1914 the baths were the hub of the Govanhill community for many years until a controversial decision by the council was announced in January 2001 that they were to close the baths.

Despite a huge campaign against the decision from the community the council were determined to close the baths as planned in March 2001. On the final night of opening a group determined to show their opposition to the closure go for a swim and chain themselves to changing cubucles and other objects to begin what will be a 5 month occupation of the baths in protest until the protesters were finally removed in August 2001.

Following a long period of stalemate the planning permission was finally granted for the Baths to be redeveloped into a Wellbeing Centre was finally granted in June 2009. While the Govanhill Baths Trust work tirelessly to raise the funds required to redevelop the building it remains derelict.

Working once more with Gillian from Dapple Photography the Baths provided an amazing space for our second photoshoot. From the sheer vast white space of the main pool to the quirky cubicles of the original baths and the stunning red doors in the ladies pool there were so many locations to work with. The bright light spaces gave a really summery feel too. Again working without electricity it was a challenging but great fun photo shoot!!

After lots of hard work our very first {Think} Boutique Pop Up Shop officially opened this week here in our home town of Glasgow. Its a great chance to get out and meet some of our customers, spread the word about {Think} and to have some fun (hopefully in the sun)! 


We're popping up for 6 weeks with our summer stock so it made sense to make summer in the city the theme for our shop fit so we put lots of effort into sourcing appropriately summery items to give our shop a quirky, fun look! 






One of our favourite items is our cute picnic hamper. We overcame the temptation to fill it with snacks and head to the park when the sun came out and used it for displaying our scarves and bags instead!


The changing areas continue the summer holiday theme with retro cruise poster screens!


Who needs sunshine to sit on the lawn in a deckchair!


Retro suitcases make a great display for our sweet Luva  Huva underwear!


Beautiful ethically made planters filled with gorgeous tulips courtesy of our friends at Glasgow Wood Recycling the perfect summery finishing touch to the window display!

This season we decided to take our photoshoot on location. We worked with photographer Gillian Hayes of Dapple Photography to come up with locations that great backdrops to show off the clothes and were in keeping with the ethos of {Think} Boutique.

Our first location was 'Dear Green Place' the home of Glasgow Wood Recycling a social enterprise that produce home and garden reclaimed wood products. As well as the environmental credentials of their products Glasgow Wood Recycling also provide volunteer and training opportunities to local people, as a practical way of tackling poverty and social exclusion.  The yard is full of nooks and crannies, interesting objects and great back drops so it was the perfect location for our first shoot.





A touch up from our fab hair and makeup artist Colette from Richardson Murray in Kelvinbridge. Quite a challenge working outside with no electricity but a gorgeous result as usual!

Who said being a photographer on a fashion shoot is a glamorous job!

We loved the contrast of this acid green bird house, fuchsia skirt and canary yellow top against the plywood back drop it really pops!


There were loads of cute props for our model Eilidh to use this sweet bike with flowers growing in the basket was just too perfect for the Adela dress!


The ends of the wooden boards all piled up make such an interesting back drop for the floral wrap skirt, just add wellies!

It was a freezing cold day and EIlidh still managed a few laughs, mainly down to Garry's jokes!

Its essential that every woman's wardrobe has a little black dress. Since its introduction by Coco Chanel in the 1920s its been the go-to item for all occasions and the chicest way to get dressed in throw-it-on and ready style! Vogue described it as a "....uniform for all women of taste".

The LBD lives on featuring on the AW 10/11 catwalk.



The {Think} LBD takes the form of this gorgeous pleat pencil dress, nicknamed the Audrey dress here at {Think} HQ as we can imagine the first lady of LBDs slipping quite comfortably into this black organic merino wool number! The fabric is soft and light to touch but warm to wear making this a winter wardrobe essential for this winter and many to come!

Shop Black Pleat Pencil Dress now!

So we did it... Think Boutique launched in style on Friday night!

The unit we used for the launch was completely empty, (not even running wateror electricity) so it was no mean feat to convert it into the stylish venue it became for the night! Thanks to our amazing team of family and friends who were there first thing on the day of the launch unloading and setting up everything from lights, generators, glasses and tables to fabric and wood for the changing room area and of course all the lovely stock.

    

An amazing structure made out of wood donated by Glasgow Wood Recycling became the backstage area with strips of black and yellow tape forming the catwalk. The bar area and pop-up shop took their places against the huge glass windows - the once deserted unit was shaping up for a party!



So all the hard work over, it was time to enjoy the party. DJ Affi Koman kicked the evening off as guests began to arrive. 



The lucky ones got a fantastic goodie bag packed with ethical lifestyle products.



Revellers browsed the pop-up shop with a glass of Fairtrade/Organic wine or some delicious Angel Organic lager and a yummy canape from the 1901 Deli.






As darkness fell the ethical fashion show got under way with all our gorgeous models looking good and strutting their stuff like professionals in a selection of pieces from the {Think} Boutique collection! 















The collection got a great reaction from the crowd!

It was an amazing night, a fitting way to mark the beginning of things to come for {Think} Boutique, I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did! Until the next party!
